Call for Nominations

Staff Council is seeking nominations for representatives to serve, beginning in September. Membership terms are for a duration of three (3) years.

Eligibility

  • Permanent, benefits-eligible staff employees below the rank of Vice President are eligible to serve on Staff Council after completing one year of full-time employment at Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
  • Staff with less than one year of service may be approved by the Nominations Committee to serve in a limited, non-voting role.
  • Employees with six months of service are eligible to vote in Staff Council elections.
  • Members serve three-year staggered terms.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Represent and advocate for all staff members.
  • Attend monthly Staff Council meetings and serve on at least one standing committee.
  • Maintain professional conduct and act as a communication link between Staff Council and the staff in their area.
  • Share Staff Council updates, meeting minutes, staff concerns, and suggestions.

Overview of the Nomination Process

  • Each spring, the Nominations Committee reviews staff population data to determine representation by division/department.
  • Nominations are conducted in June, with eligible staff members nominating and electing representatives from their divisions.
  • If nominations exceed available seats, a runoff election is held.
  • Election results are announced in July, new members are welcomed in August, and terms begin September 1.
  • Vacancies are filled through special elections following the same nomination and election procedures.
